surf trip for young college kids over summer break« on: December 28 2008 15:12:00 »
so me and my buddy are thinking of a big surf related adventure we could take this summer. we are both pretty experienced surfers and live on the east coast. right now we are thinking possibly just road tripping across the country to northern cali and then driving down the coast and surfing and sleeping in our car or camping, and then doing the same down the baja coast. if anyone has any suggestions/ ideas of where to surf, camp or any other ways we should spend out summer let me know!

Hey whats up man I am from theeast coast as well and I did the cross country Baja trip a yr or so ago in an old schoolbus. If you want to see pictures or anything check out the old site we used to keep in touch w/ fam n friends (www.schoolbustobaja.com) As for the trip you will have an experience of a lifetime. Some advice...take advantage of 24hr walmart parking lots...you can stay overnight no hassle...some campsites charge up to 20 bucks a night. Something wild I wish I did was take the ferry from La Paze to Mainland but me and my buddy werent prepared money wise. It was going to cost around 400 bucks-ish. But you can surf mainland then come back up to the states through texas...or keep going!!! Hope you have a blast man stay stoked

Well as you probably know it really isnt the season down there so if your looking to get absolutely epic waves i'd do indo. On the other hand this just isnt a trip its a total experience. We usually averaged anywhere from waist high to overhead depending on the swell. We were in Baja for a total of 6 weeks so we caught a bit of swell. Its more the season around the peninsula so there the opportunity to catch swell over there. It was def a blast. Again it all depends on what your looking for

I live in so cal and have traveled extensively in both areas. I'd say Indo all the way, no question. Stay clear of Bali except as a hub and if you like to party. Lots of consistent waves on other islands. Have fun and hati hati.
