mellow surf in indonesia?

« on: February 09 2009 02:02:00 »

My wife and I will be in Indonesia in March and April.  My wife rides a longboard, and is worried about barreling waves.  Are there any breaks, besides Kuta beach, that have mellower waves?  Thanks in advance.

Not that i want more people to rock up at my local. Try Tugu. It is called that due to the fact the Tugu Hotel is right there. It is next to Canggu making it only 20 minutes out of Seminyak. Next to that is Old Man's another "longboard" wave. Both of these breaks have a left and right. Does get crowded in July - Oct

Both of these places are good long board and medium ability surfers waves. The surf schools do drag their students out there making it an obstical course some mornings, but on the whole a great place to surf with a good expat vibe.

Medewi mentioned above, which is a lovely wave is 2.5 hours making it a long haul each morning from your villa. Go up to Medewi and stay over night.
