Indo surf trip (august '09)« on: February 22 2009 08:02:00 »
Just a question to any locals from Indonesia. Would it be better for me to buy a second hand board in Indo or rent in each place I go to. Just wondering about logistics of transporting boards. I'll be traveling pretty light but would a board be too hard to move around.
Also, where would you guys recommend for an intermediate surfer. (I'll be getting loads more practice in before August though)
Any help is much appreciated

I'll add that I have a 6'5" retro fish. Worth bringing it? (i figure its not, but any experience/advice would be helpful)

The best bet is to buy a board on Bali and sell it back to one of the shops before you leave. Heaps of shops on Poppies lane in Kuta. Hundreds of used boards to chose from. A handful of used board shops have sprung up out at Ulu Watu as well. Renting isn't feasible.Have fun!

Declan: It would help to know how long you plan to be in Indo. Also, how much it would cost to take a board w/ you. My suggestion: If you like your fish and are comfortable w/it-take it with you. Pick-up a more Indo specific board in Bali after you get some time in the water there.
