Indo trip in may, advice needed!

« on: March 07 2009 11:03:00 »

Hi,

Im looking for general advice such as any good places to stay, spots to visit and places to avoid. Ive trawled the web looking for info and have found quite a bit. But more would be greatly apreciated.

Me an two freinds are hoping to fly into jakarta at the end of may, and make our way down to bali. We are planning to stay for 2 month, hopefully spend a month on java travelling down and the other on bali. we are intermidiate to advanced surfers, but this will be our first time to indonesia. Bringing our own boards.

Any places to stay and best route through java? from jakarta?

Many thanks

Whatever u do don't get stuck in Kuta beah break! closes out and i crowded. Good place to startoff in and gear up, but u'll go crazy after a few days. Some pretty good surf on the reefbreaks around Kuta like Kuta reef, dreamland, airport. Hire a cab (bargain for it!) or get a scooter. I havent been to java but I hear G-land i awesome, suppossed to be 1 or 2 camos by the reefs, "djungle surf" or something. I was in sothern Lombok a couple of months ago and had some really good surf in Grupbuk bay, nice bay with 3-4 reefs (flat rocks, safe).

have a good trip
