surf trip on a budget« on: May 12 2009 05:05:00 »
I'mm looking to spend a month somewhere surfing. I'm a beginner/intermediate (the aim of this trip is to move out of the catagory) i'm basically looking for the cheapest place to stay for taht length of time which has surf that would suit my ability.
I'm thinking bali and costa rica are looking pretty cheap, but any help and advice would be appriciated.
i'm be on a solo one so would be good to go somewhere were meeting people is easy

Bali is the place! I've been to both and IMHO Bali is the place you want to go.
The following is my experience:
1)The variety of surf w/in short distances is way better in Bali. Typically, it can take days to move between surf areas in CR
2) The length of the surfing day is longer in Bali than CR
3) Kuta is a great place to hookup with other surfers. Jaco and Tamarindo are good, but they aren't Kuta.
4) Almost everyone that tells me how great CR is hasn't been to Indo
1) Not including airfare
