Learning to surf in June 2010

Hi,

I've taken vacation in the first week of June and was thinking of learning to surf during the time. I live in Singapore, so all of south east asia is an option.

However, i have no idea if June is a good time, nor where I could go. Ideally, I'd like to stay somewhere where there's also a bit of nightlife as I'll be traveling alone.

Do you guys have any suggestions?

Many thanks!
Alessandro

RE: Learning to surf in June 2010

ya, my first surf experience was in cimaja last summer and i had a great time with the locals leaning the basics.  i just got back into west java two weeks ago and plan on staying till mid july.  june is good swell period, so there will be plenty of surf spots to choose from.  just fly into jkt, take bus to bogor, from bogor get bus to pelebuhan ratu or sukabumi.  once in pelebuhan ratu, get ojeg to take u to cimaja.  everyone there knows that area and it will take just about 5min to get there from pelebuhan ratu.  there is some nightlife, but it's not like bali.  i travel alone as well and made friends easily and will be in the area throughout my stay in west java.
