Surf and weather in May

« on: April 22 2007 16:04:00 »

I am looking to take my Honeymoon in Ireland for about 10 days in May of 2008. What is the average temperature in May, average weather conditions for a tipical May day, and where would I be likely to find the most consitent, sizable surf. Also, is a 4/3 ok with botties and gloves.

lots of people talk about lahinch as a surf spot - and its pretty decent, but its not consistant at all. bundoran in donegal is better in my opinion - lots of beaches, each suited to different conditions so you should get some surfing in. what will the weather be like??? who knows. last few weeks in ireland (april) the weather has been amazing, 20 degrees regularly, but the swell has been really really poor.

as for wet suit, i'm heading out this sunday and i'll be wearing the 5ml winter suit. i dont think i'd try a summer suit in irish waters in may, maybe june onwards. enjoy!
