Any surf in Galway???

Hey There, Myself and a friend are moving to the west coast for june, july and august (originally from Dublin) and I might get work in oranmore...good or bad place to live?? and most important where would be the nearest surf spot and any idea how long a drive that may take...any advice would be great,

Some surf in Spiddal SOMETIMES!! Very rare but nice. Out towards conemara there are some sites along notht west part. Many places are sheltered here. Occasional surf. County Clare isn't far away from Galway city.

I work in Spiddal and have never seen a wave above a foot or 2 so good surf is VERY rare indeed :) I'd recommend Fanore in north Clare as the nearest decent location, its around an hour from Oranmore.
