I've only surfed near my house at Licola, but I've heard a good surf spot in the immediate Naples area is Mesina, north of Lago Patria. When there's a swell and you have more time, drive an hour north to Gaeta. The waves are reportedly better in that area than Naples, and they even have a surf club there. I've caught waves with my 6'0 rocket fish at Licola, but they're usually pretty weak and I'm thinking of buying a 9' longboard so I can catch more waves throughout the year.

I live in between Licola and Pozzuoli in a place called Parco Azzurro (I am a bit up on the hill just northwest of Lago D'Averno). I can see the coast from my house and some days I see good waves and other days it is flat. From my house I can also see Ischia and two other tiny islands very far in the distance on a clear day. Can you tell me where specifically (give road names, or landmarks) is a good place to surf? I am a beginner with a 7'2" board.
