Travelling with board plus board storage

Heading to Japan in April for surfing but also want to do some hikes.. any ideas on leaving a board somewhere? How is it getting around with a board? No Car!!

If you have no car in Japan, try Kugenuma Beach area for surfing near Tokyo.  It's about 1hr+ from Shinjuku station and there are many surf shops along the coast.  I don't know if you can leave your board there, but you can try.  But waves aren't constant and usually very small.  Try Chiba prefecture for more constant waves but you will need to travel long distance by train from Tokyo, and also take bus from train station.
