Are there any surf camps in Japan?« on: April 17 2005 23:04:00 »
Hi, all you surf lovers!
Well, now that I turned 39, maybe this summer should be the summer I learn to surf! What do you think??
I live in Chiba and was wondering if there are any surf camps nearby, or maybe how I could find people who wouldn`t mind taking me along with them. I have no equipment yet, the sum total of my surf experience is one great bodyboard ride and watching "Endless Summer" about 50 times.
Any advice or hints will be much appreciated!!

ps I do have a car, so could also exchange transportation for some pointers from friendly folks. I speak Japanese, although I probably need to learn some surfing vocabulary!

A surfer named Kimi« Reply #4 on: May 11 2005 22:05:00 »
I am a journalist from Australia. Would anyone happen to know of a Japanese surfer going by the name of Kimi? He's probably in his late 20s and worked and surfed for a while a few years ago on the Gold Coast, Australia.
He married a woman named Schapelle Corby who is currently in a lot of trouble in Bali. She has been accused of smuggling drugs into Bali. I am trying to find her ex-husband Kimi, who I understand used to live in Omaezaki.
Any help would be appreciated greatly.

If your keen to travel, I run a surf school in Kochi Prefecture. It's quite a way from Chiba but well worth the trip for some uncrowded sessions. It's a bit late for this summer but we start again 2006 from May thru November. Contact: email@example.com
