Surfing - Staying in Toyko - need Surfing recommendations« on: April 15 2009 13:04:00 »
My boss is traveling to Tokyo, Japan from Los Angeles,California, USA on May 12-13 2009 and he is looking for a great surf spot. He is an experienced surfer who surfs with a long board.
Which surf spot would give him a challenge and fun. Please also include how long and what is the best way to get to the surf location. Should we rent a car or take the trains (if so which trains)
Where can he rent a great quality surfboard.

I would recommend the Chiba Coastline facing the Pacific Ocean - easy to get to and there is a strong surfing community ther with lots of shops and so on. The center of surfing is Kazusa Ichinomiya a one hour fast train ride from Tokyo station.
From there you can walk to the beach and shops. Mostly beach break.
If you go further south, it gets more reefy ie Kamogawa and Katsuura.
