I am japanese from tokyo but now I live in rome for 9 years... But I went to surf school in Ichinomiya, Chiba a couple of time. The beach is long and nice and there's almost always the waves.
The school is of the H.I.C. (Hawaiian Island Creations). The owner is very nice person and I think he speaks english. Almost all the clients comes from around tokyo and get friends there. So just visit and enjoy surf with them!
(And don't forget to try local seafood dishes!!)
have a nice waves!

Adrian & Chris,
I'm moving to Tokyo in a few weeks (October 2010). I'm looking to get back into surfing. Been out of it for quite a while acually. About 15 years. I'm 39 and in the U.S. Air Force. I'll be in Japan for 3 years. I will have a car and have already looked at ordering a custom board, so I can start surfing as soon as possible again. Feel free to email me. I would not mind driving, if you know some good spots to surf. email@example.com

Surfing is always on my mind. I'm moving to Tokyo with my wife and 2 kids in late November, 2010. I'm 40 and have been surfing since '86. I thought about taking my short board and taking the train to Chiba or somewhere easily accessible.
This looks like a good way to network with other surfers. If I can hitch a ride, I'd split all costs, granted I get a pass from the wifey on Saturday or Sunday. I've got a lot of boards I wouldn't mind loaning out as well. I'm only taking about 4 of my 15+ boards to Japan.
