Surf and Travel Kenya/Tanzania« on: March 30 2009 15:03:00 »
I'm hoping to take a trip to Tanzania and Kenya this July. I would love to surf somewhere in either country. If anyone has info on board rentals, safety tips, and spots I'd appreciate it.
Also, if anyone has travel tips for going between the two countries, that'd be great.

We can offer accommodation in a beautifull Runda Estate. It's near the American Embassy, United Nations and the village Market. The guest house is a two bedroom fully furnished. e-mail me should you need more details.

In 1966 I travelled by bus from Mombasa to a spot known as Malindi. From the bus trip I could see many spots along the way. Its probably way different now but when Tony Burgess and myself travelled there they had not seen surfing or surfboards before. Malindi is a beach break on a curved beach that the swell gets more into the more you go along it. There is a gamefishing(or was) industry there and some really fast rights of a reef half a K out. We were there in April 1966 and found conditions afected by onshore trades but early morning got us a wave or two. This is not much use to you now but thought I'd drop a little surfing history on you. I wrote a story on the trip for SURFER but our camera half framed each shot and without the shots Sevo use it.
