For any info on surfing in and around Tulear in the southwest of Madagascar feel free to drop me a line. I have been living here since 2009 and surfing here since 2001 so do know a just a little about the waves round here!

Howzit Blair, Im keen on doing the southwest mid May, Id like to hire a 4x4 and camp where i please in a tent while looking for waves, if you could recommend some spots and your thoughts on the safety of camping. (ill obviously only put the tent up just before night fall and not stay in one place longer than a day depending on the vibe.)
I will have a lady with me so Id prefer not to put her in harms way..... also if you know of any quite romantic spots I'll hook you up with a case of cold ones.

hey mate dunno about that for starters car will cost u an arm and a leg to rent plus the roads are atrocious and u cant like just drive up to the beach and paddle out to breaks u need a boat. secondly the camping is not a good idea too risky especally with ur lady friend in tow, better off to just get yourself to anakao or mangiy, rent a little bungalow on the beach and try and find a local fishrman with outboard to get u out to the breaks, good luck mate!

Hi Blair,

I am a Malagasy based in Qld, Aus and quite sick of crowds and such.
Wanting to move back home to Madagascar end of 2014, where's the best place/area to easily get a job and has a consistent break?

Cheers m8
