conditions and what type of boards to bring?

Hello,
  I'll be headed to the Maldives for the beginning of April. Can anyone tell me what types of boards I should consider bringing? What are the conditions like during this time period? I've done some research and it seems like during this time, the waves are generally smaller than the summer months, but am I correct in saying that there is usually always waves to ride? Thanks.
