where to stay in maldives ? (no boat-trip)« on: December 19 2006 02:12:00 »
hi surfdudes out there,
i´d like to see the maldives next year (sometime between march and may, for two weeks or so). So i am looking for information about what islands/atolls to go to get good waves. unfortunately the best choice (boat trip) is not possible, my two year daughter would get bored and my wife likes sandy beaches to stay as well... any recommendations ? (i am experienced surfer (+10 years, but not comfortable with gnarly, hollow waves... i usually go surfing twice a year for two weeks to fuerteventura, maroc, france, portugal and so on- i like best my 7´4 minmalibu and my 6´7 shortboard ). maybe theres a (not too expensive) resort with one or two breaks within walking/paddling distance ? thanx for any answer ! hang loose, mark

I think you are a bit between a rock and a hard place trying to keep the girls happy and getting to surf as well. If Dhonveli is out, I would look at Lohi's. Needs to be booked through Wavehunters or World Surfaris to have the surf boat trips. Just remodeled. The problem is that compared to Club Med where sports are included you are likely going spend a lot for the girls sailing, etc. If at Club Med you will instead spend an absolute fortune to get to the surf if it's like other hotels (only hotel dhonis allowed - several hundred $US daily). Confirm the cost of a boat before settling on Club Med! I know, it seems crazy because everything is so close. We got stuck at a nonsurf hotel for a few days once and this is what we were faced with. Hopefully you will find a better solution

Does Wavehunters/World Sufaris have Lohis locked up as far as getting access to surounding breaks?
