From Troncones North or South?

After spending a week surfing in the Troncones area in late November early Dec., we can't decide between heading north or south (or is it west or east?) from there.  We're looking for more fun surf and not a lot of people/tourist crap.  Seems like heading up towards Michoacan could be the way to go but I'm wondering if anybody's got any opinions about places along the coast between Acapulco and Puerto Escondido?

RE: From Troncones North or South?

Gregg,

Please tell me as much as you can about surfing in the Troncones area.  Is it crowded?  What type of California break does it compare with?  Thanks for your input.  I have surfed lots of other areas in Mexico, as well as Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and El Salvador, France, Morocco, and Indo.  If I can reciprocate I would be happy to.

many thanks,

Jan Mayer

Hi! Gregg, i recommend near Acapulco, "Playa Bonfil" it's a nice place and very friendly people, you can get nice "cabaƱa" less than $10 us. per night, i live in Acapulco, and Surf daily in this beach, midle week JUST 2 or 3 guys all over the beach, but weekend, too crowded.., then you can drive to South- to puerto escondido, and discover all beautiful spots on the way.., Ask to locals in Acapulco., See yah!
