I´m a surfer from Ensenada,Baja California, México. We are having the mexican national surfing championships feb 14-20
and there´s a delegtion coming from Veracruz. As you should know the Gulf of México is not the best surfing destination, but they have wind swell on winter, they call it norte, and of course during huricane season. There´s a surfing publication,
Estilos magazine, edited in Veracruz. You might like to send a mail to Sara Sanchez, the editor. [email protected]

I used to live there in 1990 and was actually one of the first people to surf in Veracruz.
I lived at Costa de Oro and surfed bajo del ingeniero, destapadores, camaronera, playa norte, garlics and the great boca andreas. Those spots can get really good and bajo del ingeniero, the offshore reefs at the end of Marti avenue and the point break at Mocambo can get world class.

El Bajo del Ingeniero is KILLER in nortes. If you are a windsurfer, winter in Veracruz is your place, for some spaniards, El Ingeniero resembles Pozo Izquierdo in Canary Islands. For windsurfing El Ingeniero is world class .

I tried to send Sara a mail to the Adresse you posted above. Which came back as undliverable though. Any chance you could get in touch with here?
The quesrions were these:
We are beginners (can stand up and surf a little when we get it right) Which spots would be for us?
We get there by bus so an affordable accommodation close to the spot would be good. Any recommendations?
We have to borrow the equipment (is a wet suit necessary), where would we do that?
If anybody could help us out. I'd appreciate it ;)
