hi there.., the best spot at Ixtapa; "Playa Escolleras"<right wave in shorebreak with sandbottom, and if you get a nice swell, ask about "Las Gatas" a left break wave, in rocks bottom.,
If you prefer to get a nice "secrets" points, ask to the locals sufers, about to get a RIDE to "el Rancho" <<the best in the area.... good waves man!

Don't forget Playa Linda! It can get good during a big south or southwest swell. Definately worth the check!

I am staying a week at the Melia Azul in late July. Last year what I noticed a left reef break just north of the lagoon. What is the name of that break? Also, are there any right reef or point breaks in the immediate area?

Hi there man! Definitevly the best waves in this mainland mexico are around june to september,, but in the winter season, you will get small waves but like caribbean sea with blue blue water.., so perfect., you should bring your shortboard.. in Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo the best left are in "las Gatas" but just in huge swell works,,
