Mexico Mexico

budget accomodation, mexico pacific coast (acapulco)

I`m planning to do a trip, starting in Guateamala (september-october), through Mexico`s Pacific coast to California.
This is my first trip and I would very appreciate every kind of help from you!!
So my question is, if someone knows about possibilities in budget accomodation in the acapulco area, or other areas in the pacific coast, where it's possible to surf. Best would be if there would be a hostel or something like that, where I could work 2-3 hours/day for free lodging. I`m planning to stay at least 3 months in Mexico before I travel to california...
Another question would be if it is possible to travel along the coast to california with the bus (surf board transport?) ?
So thanks a lot in advance!
