How safe is Nexpa at the moment>« on: January 27 2011 19:01:00 »
Wondering how safe Nexpa feels to surf at the moment with the warring drug cartels? We were there last year, and the coast was heating up with banditos shutting down some of the small comunities like never before. Wondering if anyone has surfed there recently and can share your opinion and vibe? Looking to go next fall for a month and just stay there? Thanks, Vanessa

We just had some guests come from there, and they said no problems, I am also sending a couple guest there tomorrow. Stay out of the Port towns, and you'll be just fine.

We have traveled to Nexpa (flew in and took a cab from Zihuat.) for the past 2 yrs. Jan '11, and Feb '10 for almost 2 weeks each. The local cabs in Zihuat. would not take us into Michoacan, only the airport cabbies were willing to. Apparently, something about having Geurrero plates (esp on cabs) doesn't settle well with the cartel in Michoacan. We only traveled early in the morning, but we honestly had no problems both times we went.
