we are thinking of coming to New Caledonia in october... i am just wondering if you could tell me what the surf will be like at this time of year... my husband and I both surf but he surfs a lot better than I do !! Are all the waves pretty heavy or are there some cruisier waves, I ride a shortboard and have surfed Indo, Fiji, etc etc but just want to make sure that I don't spend all my time watching surf that is too heavy/dangerous for me !!

Wondering about the crowds for surf in August. What is the best, most isoloted location for surf and relaxing island cultural experience. Have concerns that some of the postings here say localism is heavy. We are after uncrowded waves, snorkelling, bush walking, with fresh food...any suggestions? Cheers :) s
