Backpacking New Zealand (MARCH/APRIL)« on: February 20 2014 01:02:00 »
I'm headed to NZ for 15 days at the end of March. I want to maximize my time in the water and in the mountains. Definitely looks like renting a camper van is the way to do it.
Should I bring my own board(s)? I thought about saving on airline fees but I always have problems on surf trips with rental board selection. I'm 6'1" and 190 lbs and I ride 6'0 to 6'2 short boards, usually close to 2.5 inches thick. I can go a bit shorter if it's a fish. It's hard to find a board that floats me on the rental rack, but I always take trips to Nicaragua or Costa, so I thought maybe the selection would be better in NZ... What do you think?
Thanks a ton in advance! I'm excited for the adventure!
