Surf in south during the winter season« on: May 29 2016 06:05:00 »
I will stay in Queenstown, to work the winter season as a snowsport instructor, before to come back home I'de like to try and learn surf... I know that it will be quiet cold but is it still possible to try surfing? Where are the best spots to learn surf in august, september close to Queenstown? If somebody can help me ? :)

Lots of good waves in Dunedin and the Catlins (closest spots to QT) but in winter it will be cold and the waves typically big and not so good for learning. You may find conditions good for learning closer to September without having to spend lots of $$ on rubber, but at least a 4/3 wetsuit will be essential if not booties and hood too.
