Auckland in November

« on: September 11 2004 18:09:00 »

Hey Mates, I'm a sponga from Cali coming there in November.  I really have no idea where to go, but I hear the surf will probably be okay that time of year.  Any advice would be appreciated. Like where to base myself, and which area breaks to target, etc.  Also would love to surf with anyone  local who is game.  After surf grinds and suds are on me! Damn I hope NZ nas Victoria Bitter.

Cheers!

NZ does have VB i am from australia currently living on the north shore and having VB is a godsend. there is no surf east Auckland but plenty everywhere else quite often too messy to get pumped enough to get out there. people think theres waves in takapuna but its shit and never breaks. Raglan is epic, whangamata is prime, and then theres north west!!! its still cold but should warm up for a 3/2 wettie nicely. if you base yourself in ponsonby you can get party crazy and still access some waves 45 mins away.
