water temp

« on: November 27 2004 00:11:00 »

Will be arriving for (surfing) holiday on North island in January, from Durban SA. where water temps  average 22deg C and air temp with a "cold" offshore in winter gets to min 12degC.
When water temp gets to below 20deg C, it's  3/2 spring suit time and at 18deg it's full length 3mm time.
What  do you recommend sub this tropical surfer wears in Jan in NZ(North island)?

You wont need a wet suit at all here in the North Island in Jan. The water is always warm as right through the summer season.
