Uncrowded surf in NZ

« on: October 11 2005 02:10:00 »

I'll be in north NZ for 2 weeks in Oct and south NZ for 3 weeks in Nov and will have a few days here and there to surf.  I don't plan on bringing a surfboard or wetsuit as I'm travelling light and doing other things.  As I'm not renting a car either, I'll probably hook up with a surf camp that will provide everything.  Just wondering what areas/surfspots I should go to if I want uncrowded waves.  BTW, if you want some company for a few days of surf, I'm more than happy to share costs.
What's the water temp in North, South?

taking a surf trip to NZl during these months is not smart.
It's cold, the waves are generally for advanced surfing and without a suit you won't last 30 minutes before you remember what i wrote.
Surf oz noth eat coast of Oz or way better is indo.
No contest. save your money and 200% better conditions.
