Holy Smokes Joz!
those pictures from NZ are just as rad as the ones from Samoa! were those mostly taken on the South Island?
I'll be in Samoa for two weeks prior to my trip to Samoa, it'll be in mid-June so I think it might be too cold to head to the South Island...do you have any recommendations of places to visit on the North Island?

Cheers. Yeah - many of those pix are south island, but not all of them. And yes - it gets bloody cold down there in winter.
The problem with surfing North Island in winter is usually wind direction. If you get the chance, head down to Gisborne and Mahia regions (east coast, NI) for some quality winter waves. Of course, Raglan can handle some solid winter swells too.
You'll just have to keep a close eye on the forecasts and be ready to travel at a moment's notice if things start looking good.

Hello, I was also thinking about coming to NZ but to work along the way to help fund my surfing travels. Couple of questions for those who have already been:
-is it cheap, average or expensive to live out there?
-what is the water temp and climate like on the north island, do u need a wetsuit all year, if so what mm?
-are there sharks there? It says on the feature on here alot of great whites are around south Aus- so they'll be here too right?
