Seeking surf advice and surf buddies in Hawkes Bay area

I have lived on Kauai for the past 25 years and will always have a home here. However, I come to the Hawkes Bay area once or twice a year and would appreciate any advice you may be willing to share regarding surf in that area. Is a 3/2 mm suit enough for most of the year? Best months to catch some surf? Any particularly fun breaks? I'm 62, surf longer boards and prefer point, reef, and bar breaks;getting too creaky for beach break/shorebreak.

Also interested in finding a surf club and/or surf buddies.

Mahalo nui loa, malama pono.
