Its 'Isle of the Pines' as in Pinetree Island... not that hard if you read and think about it.
I surfed a spot about 3 or 4 k from the Isle years ago (maybe '95 or '96) and it was a long winding right hander along the end of the reef pass that is south/ south west of Ile des Pines. All the breaks are basically passes in the (worlds largest lagoon) reef and its pretty freaky surfing when the only land is  the island is a hazy blur on the horizon.
I was staying with my family at Club Med and took my board not knowing if there was surf there. i harrassed the scuba tour guy and carried his scuba gear to the boat every day until he gave me a ride out to the reef pass.

Hi, I 've lived in new caledonia and I can tell you that there is a spot on the island and even a local surfer known as Gaby, the spot is in front of his house so be polite and ask permission to get there, but the guy will be more than happy to share his wave (if you are lucky enough to get one because you really need good conditions...) the place is called Baie des rouleaux.
there is another spot right behind the ilot bayonette, but you need quite a big swell to see it working.
Otherwise there are Nokanui islands where you get a nice wave and plenty of reef action (but you'll need a boat to get there)
Never forget to introduce yourself and ask permission to the people before you get in the water!!!
