I'm going to Nica this June and want to avoid the crowds of Popoyo and San Juan del Sur. After some research it looks like Playa Aserradores could be a good option. However, I have heard/read in some places that the main break "El Boom" is a closeout depending on the sandbars. Has anyone surfed there RECENTLY? Also, how is the left point that is nearby? Is it a good option for beginners or if "El Boom" is maxed out?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Not at all. Like any beachbreak it has some days better than others but it's rare that it closes out. Mostly you just get shacked.
