May be the best place is Playa Gigante, What do you think ?« on: July 16 2005 07:07:00 »
Playa Gigante is a small village of fisherman. It' s safe and very central for the waves. You need to rent a boat or stay in a surf camp. September, october, november, avril, may are not so crowded. We've been to the Momo surf camp, near Dale Dagger's camp and it was nice. Good waves.

It very well may be. Gigante has great boat access to the best spots (Manzanilla, Colorado, Panga Drops, Playa Santana and Popoyo are all pretty close (you can walk to Colorado and Panga Drops if you have the 45 minutes are in for an adventure. (high tide will add to the fun)
Keith and Maria's Pie de Gigante Restaurant is highly recommended. Rancho Santana's food is expensive and underwhelming...

There are a couple of really nice places for rent for really cheap. The aforementioned couple can usually set you up with something spectacular.
If you're looking for an inclusive deal that will pick you up at the airport and get you right to the surf...Giant's Foot tours is my recommendation for a surf camp in the area, but there are a few others. Friendly and with great local surf knowledge.
I've been to Gigante 3 times and I'm about to go for a month.
(said my post was too long, that's why i've posted twice...)

how much would I need to live in A/C and eat good and surf Gigante for a month?
Are there any hospitals nearby in case of accidents?

nearest hospital, if you get hurt in this area expect to be getting medical atention in around 2 hours. probably get hrown in a vehicle and rushed to rivas... if this heppens quikly it will be minimum 1 hour and half. then make sure you are just stabalized, dont get any serious work done, then go to managua, that will be another 2 hours... my advice, dont get hurt:)
