suggestions on which is the best region to surf ??« on: March 18 2009 08:03:00 »
i am going down to surf in the offseason, which is rather soon actually. I am a rookie looking for the best region to hit. I have read all the post, tried to figure out which area to set up shop, but am still unsure. I am an avid snowboarder outta of colorado, as well as on a wake board. so i dont want to get stuck at the expert spots, but yet dont want to isolate myself to the rookie waves as well. is there a spot that lends itself somewhere in the middle so i can have options depending on how well i pick up on the sport. any suggestions are appreciated as i am looking forward to heading to the region.

Playa Madera would be your best bet. Good all around spot with board rentals and lessons. It is also close to San Juan Del Sur so there are many options for housing. The spots up north are more technical and have limited access/resources. You can always head up there as your skills improve. There are also some spots south of San Juan Del Sur that are easier to access.
