hello all...I was looking into a Nicaragua trip for august. just looking for some general info best places to stay (cheapest) I will most likely be running solo and wont have a car so preferably someplace within walking distance of a couple of waves...I checked out Nomad surfers website. They seem to have a setup outside Managua....anyone been? everything I have been finding seems a bit on the pricey side? any help would be great. Thanks

I will also be in Nic in August, looking like from the 10th on throughout the 20th, I have been doing hostel searches and found a great place and Leon. I've heard great things of the Providence Leon but don't really know how the surf is in that area. http://www.hostelworld.com/availability.php/Hostal-Tortuga-Booluda-The-Lazy-Turtle-/Leon/19271
is the link to the Hostel I was looking into.

I'm heading out to Nicaragua in 2 weeks and will be there until the end of August. I have been doing heaps of research. I've come across a few places to stay, some really expensive and some not so expensive. In reply to the guy above me, from what I gather, the Department called 'Rivas' has the best breaks. Leon is supposed to be a bit dodgy with regards to crime etc, as all of Nicaragua can be. I'm going on my own and get the feeling that it would be a good thing to know a few people to travel to breaks and surf with so if you wanna hook up and go for some waves then gimme a shout. this hotel seems like one of the better finds that I've come across http://www.hotelpopoyo.com/accommodation/accommodation.html
Check it. Gimme a shout if you fancy some nice waves.
