RE: Does really worth the surf in Jan. at North Nicaragua???« Reply #1 on: December 01 2010 08:12:00 »
I'm in Northern Nicaragua at the moment (Puerto Sandino area) working in a surf tours lodge. Whilst the swell is smaller at this time of year (the big season is April-September) there are still great knee to head high waves to be had if you go with a good company with good local knowledge. We have found over head high barrelling waves in the last few weeks and the wind is still consistently offshore plus during the 'smaller' season there are far fewer surfers around and we are surfing empty waves all the time at the moment :) So I'd say YES, It's definitly worth coming over here in January, as long as you're not looking for triple overhead.. then you should wait til April!

Yep I've scored in northern Nicaragua a few times at that time of year. Conditions are beatiful, no rain or storms, offshores and this beachy will make the most of any swell that is around and channel it into tubing peaks:
I stayed in the cabin there for a month and just had the most chilled time.
