RE: Travelling between Panama and Costa Rica« Reply #1 on: June 25 2006 15:06:00 »
You can get a bus from San Jose, Costa Rica to Panama city. There are spots all the way down the Pacific Coast in Panama so you could get off along the main highway and then try to get a local bus or hitch to the breaks. You can also get a bus from San Jose to the boarder on the Caribbean side, and then take a short taxi ride and then a motor boat ride over to Bocas del Toro for some amazing reef breaks from about Dec to March. If you don't already you need some basic Spanish to really get the most out of your trip. A lot of people in the countryside don't speak English. Suerte!!
