Renting Car vs Bus? Bring board or rent?

I'm planning a two week surf trip to Panama starting May 23rd. I'm just looking for some advice on if it's better/easier to bus around the country or rent a car? I was also wondering if it is easier to bring my own board from home or rent while I am down there?? I will be traveling own my own, but have learned from previous trips that surf sites are often difficult to get to by bus/public transportation. Any advice on my above questions or on favorite surf spots or routes would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Renting Car vs Bus? Bring board or rent?

I went on a similar trip in march. I took a board and traveled by bus just fine. surfed both sides.  it just takes a little planning when you move to a new spot. you have to change buses a bit. I liked doing the solo thing on the bus locals were friendly ect.  watch your wallet in bocas.  it was the most shady place i went. lots of petty crime and B.S tourist rip-offs  the water taxies try to charge you more if your a surfer, ect.
