first surf trip! need help!

hey! im taking my first surf trip to panama this april and was just wondering where should i exactly go...im kind of an advanced begginer so im not looking for anything thats to heavy..but atleast something that get chest to head high....any input would be much appreciated!

Hi!  For beginners - check El Palmar.  there is a school there. Look online for Panama surfing school for contacts. They are super nice people.  Santa Catalina is considered the best beach.  Venao is good too.
Local favorite is Playa Teta, but it is wild and I think you need 4X4 to get there.

I think have to agree with the post above. Santa Catalina has a decent beach break and it's cool, small surf town. Playa Venao is great too, alittle bit more remote but uncrowded. I'd also look into Bocas del Toro, it's definately more on the intermediate to advance side of things, but Wizard beach is a decent beach break, although it can have a pretty nasty rip. Otherwise, the rest of the breaks in bocas are reef breaks and definately be sketchy to someone who's not comfortable in those kinds of conditions. have fun!
