Peru or Central America (Costa or Nica)

« on: April 26 2012 13:04:00 »

So I have off for the summer and am going to take the time to travel south. I am From NY. live in DC currently. Have travelled to southern peru in the past and loved the surf, but it was january and february and their summer.  So I was looking into going up to Mancora where it will be warmer and stopping at Chicama or making a trip down sometime along the way.  Wouldn't mind doing central america though either, my spanish isnt that great and I hear it is a little more english friendly, not that I mind too much.  What do you guys think, consistensy, size, price, fun?
Thanks
Brian

HI brian! last year i spent 3months surfing Peru, Ecuador and Panama and I surfed Chicama as well.  I think both Peru and Central America are great places in terms of consistency at this time of the year, although south swells may hit bigger on peru's coast. Peru is cheaper than costa rica. Lobitos is near Mancora and has better waves, but its a quiet town, but you can always move to mancora for the weekends. For fun, i would recommend Montañita too (ecuador), which also has warmer waters and nice waves. hope it helps!
