how safe is lobitos?« on: November 07 2012 11:11:00 »
Hi to all surfers here,
I am planning a huge surf around the world trip in 2013, which will include Peru, for sure
I wanted to stay in Lobitos for a while, but I read many creepy stories (especially at wannasurf.com), which scares me a lot. Ok I know south america is kind of dangerous, but reading about being robbed by masked guys in rooms, where you sleep, concerd me a lot.
How would you judge safety in Lobitos and aorund the area, for a female, who travells alone?
Thanks guys for any response and help!

There's a'new" place hostel / surf camp on the beach at lobitos that l;ooks pretty safe and comfortable.
Surfed at lobitos many times, but never spend the night there, never say or heard of any dangerous things. I am sure if you rock up with expensive camer's Imac/pods etc and stay in a shit shaq for 5 dollars per night that it's highly likely that your stuff will find a new owner

Have fun it's an awesome wave, make sure you also get to surf Pacasmayo and Chicama ( when there's a big swell running)
