Chill spot to learn?

« on: December 03 2005 16:12:00 »

i am going to peru in december for a month, and among all the great adventures i hope to live i am saving about a week to learn how to surf, preferably on the beautiful northern beaches i have heard so much about. anyone know any good spots fro a girl travelling alone to kick back, hang out with locals and cool backpackers, not too crowded with nice waves for beginners?
cheers from freezing montreal! (can't wait to chill in the sunshine!)

Did you find a chill place to learn?  I surfed for the first time this year, and am also still at the beginne level.  I am headed there jan 7 for two weeks.  I too was planning a trip to the north  beaches.  I would love any input.
Thanks,
Anne

i recommend Huanchaco Beach, near Trujillo, thats where i learned, its so beautiful, and you got small waves, and then bigger ones a bit further for when you get better. Its really easy to get there, just take a communitative bus from trujillo, dont pay more that 1 sole 20 for it! oh and obviously, you should go to Mancora, a bit crowded but worth it!!! have fun!
