finding a rental car in peru online is pretty much close to impossible.  You need to get to chicama by means of combi, which is a small bus or a bus preferably.  It'll take you about 40 minutes to get to chicama from this point.  You really have to know where the turnoff is for chicama, but the locals should know where to send you.  Be sure the surf conditions are right, because we got skunked and it sucked having to drive around for surf.  We found pretty good surf before chicama at a spot called Huanchaco.  Good luck

Forget about renting anything! Peru has a very good transportation system called the bus. Once your in trujillo go directly to Huanchoco and stay at this great city. Then hang out and watch the surf. This place is basically an indicator wheather to go or not. It has to be at least head high to make chicama worth going. Get your maps out and the locales will direct you to which bus you need. P.s. travel light and smart? Good Luck and if you catch Chicama over head you will never forget the memories.
