august surfing in peru vs costa rica

« on: June 21 2006 22:06:00 »

Hi, I have the month of August off, to learn how to surf.  I am split between going to Costa Rica vs/Peru/Equador...can anyone give advice on better climate, cheaper, better for a beginning surfer and all that?  Thanks!

Never been Peru - but going !

I recommend Malpais/Santa teresa (actually its Playa Carmen), Guanacaste, Costa rica to you. Stay in Tranquillo Backpackers (new, nice and very big) and 100 m from perfect learner and consistant surf......you will not have to travel from here.........you will be very happy you went !

Have a great time (Oh - its safe too)

i would also suggest going to costa rica to learn to surf. mal pais is a fun beach break  with a lively nightlife and tons of girls. it would be perfect for you to learn to surf and enjoy yourself during the times you are too tired to paddle out.

have fun.

you funny kids..........
How can you compare C. Rica vs Peru?? this amazing country is  not packed of surfers, has more point breaks instead than beach breaks, ther is not crowd, is not regulated by dollars and you have good and fresh food everywhere. WE know  C. Rica is warmer and greener but with a wet suit and a bike you can explore on your way all around Peru!
keep it on mind.........
