Surfing in Peru during October? Surfing Peru

My girlfriend and I are going to be in Peru with some free time between October 9 and 24.

Is this a good time to learn how to surf?

Where would be the best place to start?

hey i would surf mancora and stay there too its 12 hours north of lima catch the bus (cruz del sur) nice surf village
i live in lima and in the north but am from england always be careful in peru u will get good waves and if u meet good people u will see other good waves in the north such as lobitos and cabo u can email me if u want...nich

Hey I am going on a surf trip to peru end of sept/october. I am from canada and have a 5/4 wetsuit wondering if that will be way too hot. Is it preety easy to rent shit down there if I don't bring my board and suit?
Also I am wondering if you have suggestions on a small surf town not too far from Lima that is safe and cheap (accomadations) cause I am a poor-ass student. cheers, michelle

Being honest agree with our friend from England, Mancora is a good spot to learn, hot water and everything close. It's around 16 hours from Lima taking the bus Cruz del Sur, very nice surf villege. Another place near Lima it could be punta hermosa. Oh! The third one is in Lima city, Makaha beach. I have some friend in all places that can help you. Yes it way too hot and too heavy to paddle long wave. I would recommend a wetsuit 3x2 good enough. Yes you can rent some cheap boards.
Town near Lima! Could be San bartolo, Punta hermosa and some others depend the kind of wave that you are looking for. for more info write me victor_ka2001@hotmail.com

Hi Nich, thanks for your reply.  I think we are going to be heading south though for our trip as we are headed to Bolivia/Chile.  Do you recommend anywhere south of Lima?

Since you live in Lima, do you have any thoughts or suggestions on where to stay?  I hear Miraflores is nice, we get in to the city at one a.m. and I am wanting a reliable place to land our first night.

Any help would be appreciated.
