the only place i would avoid in peru is sketchy parts of lima and jail. travel smart and with good vibes and things should be good. spanish is very usefull, even basic. take the better and more expensive long distance buses for comfort and safety. bus robberies are common on the cheaper ones. the better ones dont stop for anyone on the road, just prepaid tickets with identification. with your chick, you could hit punta hermosa, just south of lima, lots of breaks and consistent, in the north in summer is good. base yourself in mancora and do day trips from there. lots of tourists and bars. dont change money on the street ever, just banks and money exchanges. eat ceviche. enjoy

Hi guys. I am really keen to head over to peru for some trekking in June. But very hesitant to go by myself. The whole single female thing. I normally have a travelling buddy with me but this is the first trip on my own. On part of my trek i go to lima and cusco...... Are they fairly safe and is there anything i should avoid etc...

Hey gaz, just got back from a trip of all peru and i wouldnt go to mancora ,50 people in the water and its a little break. Pacasmayo was good and punta hermosa has lots of breaks. Dont worry about lima, police everywhere ,just be smart with money and travelling. I recomend cuzco and macho pichu.
The whole of peru has surf, so if you can hire a car and you can surf good waves on your own.

Hey I travel for all over the coast in Peru and I think the best for you guys is around the center coast of Peru. Pacasmayo, Chicama are good and punta hermosa has lots of breaks. Lima up and down have a lot of places and save just avoid some beaches inside Lima in Sumer time, I recomend cuzco, Huaraz. The amazon. If you really want to have very good time in Peru I would say get a tour if you don't have money for that rent a car and have fun good luck

I'm also planning to travel solo for a week in Peru around x-mas. How did it go? Any advice?
