You will arrive in Autumn. The weather will be fine, pretty sunny in daytime, but it will be windy at nights. The motels rates are $8 to $50 per night. There is a lovely motel at the seashore just in front of the island. If you go by bus, its better and safer ride with Cruz del Sur or Ormeno. It will take 12 hours to get to Chicama. If you go by car it will take just 7 hours, you will find the highway wonderful and it is very safe. I hope you'll enjoy Peru as much as I do

Your going at the early season of their winter!!!!!!! Peru goes off the hook this time of year. It will get big Im sure and you will paddle for days on end. You will need a fullsuit and booties and a good size board so you can get in!!!!!! I would go read stormsurf or go to wannasurf for more info? Its a great place to hang and surf good food good people and some surfers who just rip!! P.s. If your their and people are saying a big ass swell is coming thats when you go to Chicama and go hang early and wait for the swell you will never forget that place if you catch it? El Hombre is the motel at the main point. Good luck and travel light and smart!!!!

My name is Gus,
Im an old surfer from Lima, living outside DC (Washington DC that is). Its been quite a few years since I have surfed Peru. But i think you will be happy with the conditions in April. For some reason the waves are pretty sweet especially middle of April. With Easter alot of peruvian surfers think that Easter brings good waves !!! FYI, Chicama is right outside the coastal city of Trujillo. I toured Trujillo with my band about 15 years ago, and it took upwards of 11 hours to get to Trujillo. Chicama is about a 30 min drive from trujillo. Good Luck !!
