Travelling from Venezuela to Santiago in chile from Jan.  Does anyone know how good Chicama is this time of year and any good boozers nearby?

Your in the Late winter season and the start of summer? You can still get a late big swell to fill in Chicama but if not its a pretty boring fishing town. Watch the swell charts for the area if not just head up north to the Mancora region. This place is the place to be for everything in Jan. You can also just stay in the Punta hermosa area which will have surf almost all year long. Well good luck and travel smart.
