Buy or Rent boards in Peru/Ecuador« on: February 11 2009 20:02:00 »
I'm going on a trip to Peru and Ecuador in a couple of months. Not keen on paying airline fees for boards. I was wondering if anyone has any idea on the costs of boards to buy or rent and how easy they are to get. Any info appreciated.

Klimax is one of the biggest shapers in Lima, and makes good boards, probably best to send him an email and ask about prices or what he has in store.

Thanks Jim. I should have been more precise. Since I'll be on a budget trip I was looking to get an idea on the cost of secondhand boards and and how easy they are to get especially around the more remote parts of Northern Peru. Or am I better off buying all the gear in Lima? Thanks again.

There are a load of surfshops in Lima.. try Miraflores. I am here at the moment and today I went to 4 shops that had boards. Klimax boards are about 400usd. I saw some new boards for 250usd in a small shop but I don't think they were great quality. In any case, Im heading up the coast for the next month and will fly out from Ecuador the first week of May. I bought a new Lost 6 4 board in Uruguay last month and will sell it before I leave. If you are intrested give me a buzz...
