I have lots stories to tell you as I’m a surf tour guide in Peru but won’t be appropriate as I work for different companies in Peru.
My suggestion would be to try a surfaris where ever your destination is. surfarisperu.com a very good company, eco-innovationtours.com They are very good for surfaris and other tours.
If you want to experience the best out door in isolated beaches.

IM PERUVIAN, THE BEST SPOTS ARE LIKE 30MIN FROM LIMA CITY BY CAR TO PUNTAHERMOSA THERE YOU HAVE CABALLEROS, SENORITAS, LA ISLA, PUNTA ROCAS, ETC...... THEN IF YOU HAVE TIME GO NORTH BY BUS (COMPANIES: CIAL, CRUZ DEL SUR ) THERE REAAAAALLY GOOD!

I am thinking of taking a few months in Peru and Chile,
May, June, July to surf. I was wondering about wave size, I usually enjoy surf up to about 8 foot, over that I personally dont like it.
Will the waves be overhead most days or will they be much larger than that, or are there spots where they are smaller if monsters? I went to Chile years back in their summer and even off season the waves were quite big most days.

i was just in punta hermosa at a cheap yet awesome surf camp called bravosurfcamp, go to their website or find them on facebook, contact mr abraham bravo. he has some good deals. his roomate does surf surfaris where they travel up north. but in punta hermosa you have waves breaking all over the place its ridiculous. im also plannin another trip so if anyone wants to plan together and split costs im down. contact me
